Eligibility
To be eligible for nomination for a Goldwater Scholarship so read it carefully:
1. Be a full-time matriculated sophomore or junior (as defined by Goldwater) pursuing a degree during the 2022-2023 academic year for the students in the Goldwater Scholarship 2023
2. Intend to pursue a research career in natural science, mathematics, or engineering for the students in the Goldwater Scholarship 2023
3. Have a college grade point average of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale for the students in the Goldwater Scholarship 2023
4. Be a U.S. national for those students nominated for the students in the Goldwater Scholarship 2023
Selection Criteria
The characteristics the Foundation seeks in a Goldwater Scholar include so read it carefully:
- strong commitment to a research career in the natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering for the Goldwater Scholarship 2023
- effective display of intellectual intensity in the sciences, mathematics, and engineering for the Gold Scholarship 2023
- potential for a significant future contribution to research in their chosen field for the Gold Scholarship 2023
Prior Research Experience
At least 6 months of prior research experience is strongly recommended for the students in the Gold Scholarship. Discuss graduate degree goals, potential subfields/specializations, and research topic interests with mentors prior to application for the students in the Gold Scholarship 2022.

Endorsement (Nomination) Requirements
UNL may nominate up to four students annually for the Gold Scholarship 2023. We may nominate a 5th student if one or more of the nominated students is a transfer student for the Gold Scholarship 2023. No direct student applications will be considered for the students in the Gold Scholarship 2023.

Cost of tuition up to a maximum of $7,500 per full academic year for the students in the Gold Scholarship 2023

Goldwater Applicant Advising & Endorsement Services
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Office of National & International Fellowships (NIF) promotes the Goldwater Scholarship on campus and provides advising and endorsement services to enrolled undergraduate applicants so come and join the Goldwater Scholarship 2023

The campus endorsement (nomination) deadline is in early December each year for the students in the Gold Scholarship 2023
Prospective Goldwater applicants are encouraged to make an appointment to meet with NIF advisors to discuss application strategy during the process of preparing the application for the students in the Goldwater Scholarship 2023
